Finished Work: Praise That Rests

Day 1 from the “All The Praise Belongs: A Devotional on Living a Life of Praise”

Scripture:

“It is finished.” — John 19:30 (NIV)

“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 1:6 (NIV)

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” — James 1:17 (NIV)

Devotional:

Real praise doesn’t come from perfection — it flows from confidence in what Jesus has already done. In Finished Work, we’re reminded that we don’t worship to earn God’s love — we worship because it’s already been given.

When Jesus said, “It is finished” (John 19:30 NIV), He meant it. Our sin was dealt with. Our debt was paid. Our future was secured. So now, even when life feels uncertain, we can stand on solid ground — not on our performance, but on His promise.

This kind of praise isn’t about how loud we sing — it’s about where we stand. It’s choosing to say, “For everything I can’t change, my faith is in the finished work of Christ.”

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You that the work is already done. I don’t need to earn Your love or fix everything myself. Help me stand in Your grace and worship You from a place of rest. You are enough.
